Re: 2015 numbers and highlights

Love the year end totals post, Andy. My goal is more humble: 100 river days/year. Being out of school and no longer in Columbia, it's perhaps not realistic, but worth reaching for! I had 72 river days this year, with 39 laps on the Green (including the Silverback and Jerry's Baddle) and a few days o...

Year End Totals!!

For all you log-keepers - what you got for the year?! For a year marked by interruptions (school, studying, injury), I got 83 days on the water. 25 green laps, 12 days on the Chattooga, 39 on the Saluda, 2 at the 12th Street Wave, 2 at the WWC, and a day at NFFB, Cheoah, Upper Nantahala and Cascades...

Chattooga River Petition

This is a neat petition on the Tugaloo Dam. It's not going to happen - but I think it is worth signing. I would love to see the gradient underneath the lake and the original Bull Sluice! http://www.change.org/p/georgia-power-company-draw-down-lake-tugaloo-to-river-bed-level-and-dismantle-the-tugalo-...

Props to Showboat on River Maintenance

John - thanks to you (and anyone else who contributed) for mowing the put-in area and weed-whacking on the opposite side of the river. It looks good! Having it cleared out is real nice during snake and PI season.

Let me know next time you work on it during the week and I'll come out to help.

Re: Perception Overflow X - $650

Sounds rather pricey. You might want to come down a bit or find some unsuspecting newb on CL. Wait, looks like you've got that covered.

Yeah, you're right. The real question is: would you run for a free lunch?

Re: Good read from Leland

Liked the article too, but I disagree with you about beatdowns. There's nothing wrong with a good beatdown - they make you tougher. Also, just because you take it hard doesn't necessarily equate to recklessness. We all swim, after all. Take Blind Date on NFFB - you can scout, be exactly where you wa...

That looks like stoke to me. Have to love a pop up beatdown.

Re: Hey Blackwater,

A little carrot and then the stick - I like it. I’ll take you up on that glass of whiskey – neat, with or without respect. Perhaps at the Iceman?

Looks like good water - anybody want to boat this afternoon? I'll be out around three o'clock.

Re: Hey Blackwater,

Whoa, brah, 3:54 a.m. That's too late for your acerbic wit. Do you go to bed? Or do you monitor the board instead, waiting to strike.

Why buy beer? Free IPAs taste sweeter (and hoppier).

You can hook me up after I "earn your respect." We'll sing kumbayah or something.

Hey Blackwater,

Will you buy me some beer if I insult you consistently for a few months? I'm up for the task, I assure you. I have internet access and like free beer.

I prefer IPAs, in cans. So you don't smash them while boating, you know.

Let me know.

Re: White Water Center to Saluda

Differences: You'll have to bring your own beer, since they don't sell it on the river. Not a concrete ditch. River people instead of IPA sipping, banker yuppies enjoying a wilderness experience. Same rules apply otherwise. That said - it's worth spending a Sunday afternoon on the riv. Check USGS ga...
