2011 stats and highlights

This is what it's all about. Just like the real parking lot, this is the place to shoot the breeze and talk trash. Just keep it clean!

Hmm.
Maybe 30 days on the water tops. However:
I paddled Z to G with Dr. Blunt one of the first days of this year. It was my first paddle with him, and may have been his last paddle in this world. He was a great guy!
Took a couple of newbies out and impressed them with my skills... or lack thereof. We all enjoyed it.
Upper Green a few times, one of my favorite runs.
Nanty several times, another favorite run.
Tame the Tyger... excellent paddle that day!
FB9 twice
Lower Green with my sister and BIL... they both loved it and hopefully will be back for more!
Dry hair day at the Charlotte park... a first for me.
Several days on the Saluda...
Met a few new friends... reconnected with a few older ones...
Enjoyed every trip, including the swims (plural)
You can put steak sauce on a hot dog, but it's still just a weiner.

I spent more time on the water this year, than past; but I didn't keep track of #. The end of year declined rapidly, as I took time off to try and heal my totally f* up feet. I'm not a have to run progressively harder rivers type; though I have some goal runs that will require me to step up, whenever I feel I'm ready to do so. At 40+ years old, I can get my thrills relatively easy.

Highlights:
Started a roll clinic, w/much thanks to Karen, Tim, Charlene, Steven.
Finding a great group of people who make kayaking fun and chill.
Helping get the zoo trail looking snazzy.
Getting my butt kicked @ Saluda Shootout.
Revitalizing whitewater interest in PP, w/Mike.
Taking my mom and daughter down the Saluda.
Running Bull Sluice (albeit at low water).
Discovering I had as much fun and confidence helping take new paddlers down the Lower Green and Saluda, as I did running the Bull.
Watching my friends bomb down Race Line.
Running the Upper Green w/Brown Stout and his dad.
After running M-Wave @ USNWC OUT of my boat, running it clean 5 minutes later.
Putting together some big plans for 2012.
And my most favorite highlight: kayaking w/my sweetheart and favorite girl.

Never trust a Lowes salesperson.

It's like getting a crappy tattoo. Cheap up front but very costly to have removed.

I will second that. Discovery of the outfield has changed the face of kayaking in columbia. cant wait to sink and listen to a ball game all at the same time.

Organized the World Surf Kayaking Championships and made it to quarter finals of the long boat competition. Best thing was we had waves and no one sued me!

Let's see.

One Day Kayaking (3 runs)on The Snake in WY.
I think I boated a day or two on the Saluda while I was home visiting.
Rode bikes in Moab copious amounts of times.
Have managed to ski at least one day EVERY month this year.
Ended up with roughly 75 days skiing last season. Got about 20 days so far this season. 3-4 or four post op. Including today.
Lost two teeth to a ski tip, had surgeries.
Broke left Talus, had surgery.

Looking forward to 2012, I will get new teeth. I hope to go to Idaho for Memorial Day Weekend on the Lochsa to do some paddling!
Maybe a road trip to America Del Sur. I am thinking of fixing up a little pickup truck I bought and rambling around warmer climes.
it is easier to fall down than to get back up

Well...around 100 days plus this year on the water.
A shit ton of pfd's.
Big Laurel
French Broad
Upper Green
Nolichucky
New River
Upper Cheoah
Pigeon
Ocoee
Tallulah

Raced in everything I could...4th place Tame the Tyger under 10'
4th place Confluence Challenge
3rd place Saluda Social and
28th place Millrace Massacre

Had a sweet time at Mount Gnar Weekend and The Party at the Bear! Met a ton of good people and new friends. Highlight of the year would def be dry hairing Tallulah on the first run. All in all a helluva good first year of boating. Lookin' forward to this year and some new runs already! :dude:
